    Weezing [IMG][IMG][IMG]
    Type: Poison
    Stats: 65 | 90 | 120 | 85 | 60

    Introduction

Despite promising offensive potential, Weezing finds itself on the fringes of 6U. It's not hard to see why one might use it, as it boasts access to the coveted Explosion, while Fire Blast and Thunderbolt offer decent coverage that enable it to target a wide variety of threats. Unfortunately, it suffers from being a Poison type, which leaves it without a clearly defined defensive role. Furthermore, Muk exists, providing competition and conceivably running the same set as Weezing, although Weezing's superior Special, Speed and Defense make it arguably better in this role, while in any case Muk has better sets to run. Overall Weezing is not the easiest pokemon to use, but it does pose a significant offensive threat, which is enough to make it a niche option in 6U.

    Sets

    All-Out Attacker

    Weezing
    - Fire Blast
    - Thunderbolt
    - Explosion
    - Hyper Beam / Sludge

    Set Details

This set should be seen as an offensive weapon, aiming to abuse its good coverage and explode when necessary. Fire Blast and Thunderbolt are your primary attacking options, combining to offer excellent coverage across the tier. Explosion is one of Weezing's main selling points and allows it to be almost guaranteed to take something down, with Machamp being an especially notable target. Hyper Beam is the preferred option in the last moveslot as it is a great finishing move against neutral targets. Alternatively Sludge is also usable and is Weezing's best option against Fire types, but against most other targets Fire Blast or Thunderbolt is better, as Sludge is not particularly powerful.

    Checks and Counters

Onix is easily the best counter to Weezing, resisting every move Weezing could potentially run and possessing STAB Earthquake with which to nail Weezing. In fact, most users of Earthquake make decent Weezing checks, a list including Machamp, Marowak and Machoke. It should be noted that Marowak and Machoke take significant damage from Fire Blast and that while Machamp is good at tanking Weezing's attacks it is a prime Explosion target. Kabutops is notable for its ability to tank Explosion and Fire Blast, but it is usually 2HKO'd by Thunderbolt while failing to 2HKO in return. Fire types are decent Weezing checks especially if it runs Hyper Beam over Sludge, while their STAB Fire Blasts deal significant damage to Weezing. Rest Muk can stall out Weezing, but struggles to deal damage in return. Magneton is notable as the sheer power of its Thunderbolt can overwhelm Weezing. Lastly, Butterfree can revenge kill weakened Weezing, but you should be aware that Psychic fails to 2HKO, while Weezing 2HKOs with either Fire Blast or Sludge.
