G1: I played Jynx Zapdos yesterday twice and was feeling pretty good rolling with it. I lead vs. a Starmie that doesn't T-Wave T1 so I figure he has Sing Chansey in the back. I go Lax vs. opposing Lax and take two Body Slams; Chansey comes in on Lax and here I'm thinking its Sing Chansey but I probably could have played this line differently (instead of Ice Beaming and switching out I can potentially Rest on a Softboiled turn but now I am stuck with 50% Lax after I switch out. Good play by Zilo here to capitalize on the mistake as he goes Lax as I switch to Jynx. He crits the next Lax, and I basically am aware I'm probably going to get Hyper Beamed, but I didn't really have a good switch and my only potential trade would be 50% on Egg for 1 Psychic Damage/Boom (Boom being either on Lax or the Chansey coming in after the Psychic). We go through some sequence of me trying to freeze Chansey and eventually we get the point where Rhydon comes in and it was already looking bad for my Zapdos team. Going Egg doesn't really get me much since Chansey is free and I either end up exploding into Chansey and losing my Exeggutor or taking pointless damage to do nothing else in return, so I go Tauros just hoping that some way it can power through. I kill Rhydon and get a crit that would allow me to beat Rhydon and Tauros with my own bull, but I lose the speed tie so now it looks bleak once again. T30 if I go Zapdos, he stays in, and doesn't wake, I'm actually looking pretty good (good given I get some luck with Zapdos), but I always hesitate in these situations and every time I hesitate it seems that they wake the turn I decide to switch. At this point I can't really win anymore since it's Blizzard Starmie so Zilo takes G1.
G2: Not gonna lie, we had already lost the week so I wasn't feeling to compelled to try hard, so I load up Sicko Mode. It seems Zilo had the same though process as me and he lead with Chansey, Gengar's best lead matchup. I get a sleep onto Starmie which would be good for my Dragonite later on. I TBolt and for some reason Zilo doesn't go Chansey, so his Lax goes down to about 50%, overpredicts the Explosion after revealing Amnesia and I hit Cloyster with a Night Shade. Chansey comes in only to miss Sing then die to Explosion. 54% Lax, Cloyster, Sleeping Starmie was a pretty ideal scenario for my Zapdos. Zilo reveals Sandslash (heat) but it just dies to crit Surf from Dnite. I wrap the Cloy just cause since Zapdos will clean up anyways. That's basically how it went and I only had to reveal half of Sicko Mode in it's competitive debut.
G3: I was feeling Zilo would load up something with Cloy so I went for a Vic team (2/2 on Vic usage this tour and that's more than I've used it in like the past two years combined). The sequence Zilo chose to end up with left him very vulnerable to what would normally be an Exeggutor, but in this situation it was my Victreebel that would put in work. To be honest, turn 14 I technically could just spam Sleep Powder and that's probably the better play, so I don't get immediate Victreebel results, but I figure that VicDon is gonna be nice in this game. After getting the sleep off T18 I started gaining some momentum since now I could threaten Chansey with freeze, Zam with para, and I could deal with Lax just fine. Boom comes out from Zilo T25 and I don't know whether this favors him or me, but I'll probably say me because all I need is my Chansey to get a para off on Zam to threaten it. With my other physical attackers. T28 is why you use TBolt Tauros, and with Cloy dead, Rhydon looks like it should be finishing off this game. Our Tauros exchange blows, but I get a really clutch speed tie win to put Tauros in Chansey Ice Beam range. I go Chansey since now I threaten everything left in the game; kill Tauros, freeze Chansey, para Zam, kill Jynx. No wake comes from the Jynx and it's forced to switch, I freeze Chansey, kill Tauros, and after paralyzing Zam, Rhydon finishes off the game.
