ziloXX vs Zokuru:
If i made any predictions i would had predicted ziloXX to win just cause he has massive support however its his debut as a starter, is he going to be able to handle the pressure and to steal games from those who are clearly better than him?
On the other hand we had Zokuru the " stall lord " known for some of his weird takes on the metagame (Zap being better than lax) but he also has some opinions that i consider to be brilliant and that show a deep understanding of the game. Zok was on my mind the favorite player to win and also the better player as he not only has more experience but has also played against stronger opponents in the past
This game starts with a pasive Snorlax against an aggresive Cloyster that is able to safely spike. Zokuru would had won pretty fast without the Toxic miss in Turn 6, one of the worst things that can happen on your game when you play with this kind of teams is missing Toxic, LK or Thunder on a Cloyster because it usually puts the other player if not on advantage on an even position. However by the Turn 26 Zokuru already has a lot of advantage and this is the part of the game where i dont get whats going on, Zok would bring safely multiple times Golem to the field and never clicks Roar or EQ on the Cloyster switch and the longer the game gets the more chances he gives ziloXX to have a comeback. By the turn 40 ziloXX seems to be quite fucked and Zokuru instead of having a more offensive initiative he keeps clicking Rapid Spin with Golem on the Cloyster switch (This sequence will be on a loop till like turn 100+ lmao) My take is that Zokuru felt so comfortable on this game that didnt felt the need to play agresively, ziloXX takes advantage from this and with a combination of lucky breaks + good plays is able to actually find himself in a winning position by the Turn 126. When Machamp was revealed I knew it was over, everyone in smogtours knew it was over and Zokuru knew the game was over, This is the moment where ziloXX manages to make the only losing play on what was a forced explosion from Zokuru, and we end up having a pretty lame endgame that could had been avoided...
Chiles vs gggggg
If i made any power rankings i would had ranked gggggggg last, what the fuck is that nickname. They apparently have had some SPL experience with only two loses or someshit like that but most of this games where on LC, i actually took my time to watch some of their SPL GSC replays and my conclusion was that ggggg would had went negative without RNG prob like 2-3 or maybe worse. After all People in smogon only look at win ratios, of course winning and having consitency its important but the way you win is also important. I cant remember any game of Chiles but i played him once on the ladder and even though im rusty as fuck id say that he won me on what was a pretty good and close game so that gave me confidence on his theorical success against gggggggg
Theres nothing much to say about the game as it was a beatdown, Chiles has this tendency to always bring Thief Gengar whenever he uses it against Cloyster (instead of going for the spike mirror) the main reason i dislike this line its cause its extremely obvious to me what Gengar its going to do, ggggg seemed to be unaware of this line and loses Raikou Leftovers, then ggggg starts to Curse with Snorlax making it an immediate threat and Chiles does the right plays against it, you are supossed to click Toxic then you click Spikes with this order youll never be in a bad spot against CurseLax. This game would had been completely different with EQ Lax in fact i dont get why Snorlax doesnt has EQ here and what happens next is Chiles just destroys ggg's team with Tyranitar and then Machamp just checkmates.
I dont think ggggg made any clear blunder in terms of gameplay it was more about Chiles just being one step ahead every turn and of course not having EQ Snorlax just allows Tyranitar and everything that has Rock/Ground coverage to be a complete pain for this kind if teams...
Fear vs BlazingDark
Fear was clearly better the entire game, id say this game should had been a clear tie with the right plays and movesets. We are talking that Fear team was pretty obvious from turn 1, he didnt had spikes and its main ways to exert pressure are CurseTalkLax walled by Rhydon and BD Quagsire walled by Exeggutor. Im not going to watch this again to see the important turns as watching it once was enough, all im going to say is that sometimes all you need to win is to refuse to lose.
Siatam vs Vani
Siatam has an amazing start by chipping Cloyster down to 53% of HP and also safely spiking with Forretress in less than 6 turns, then he also reveals HP Water Zap and the game seems to be quite over at turn 13. After this brilliant start Siatam blunders his Zapdos and gives Vani a Chance, this is also were Siatam momentum ends and position starts to get better for Vani turn after turn. Siatam managed to make what was hard look easy and what was easy to look hard, its worth mentioning that when you load Whirlwind Zap to a game you are most likely automatically weak to Exeggutor the fact that it also had Seeds made it quite annoying for some turns, this combined with Siatam making the wrong play with Zapdos allowed Vani to get in advantage doing only obvious moves and on the other hand Siatam was forced to make the obvious moves at Turn 55 Siatam reveals Smeargle making Marowak his obvious last Pokemon, ive tested exactly this 6 mons together months ago on ladder and most recently in the past week my version of the team has a more offensive nature with forretress being a miracle berry lead but yea it was cool seeing someone with a different aproach, the idea is to use momentum as main way to defend the team and by the midgame/endgame Smeargle is able to perform the easiest agilipass of its life being extremely deadly in to weakened generic offensive teams that he happened to be facing, the game should had been an easy win with the start he had but yea everyone makes mistakes and it came down to a close ending with cloyster being barely out of ohko range.
Conflict vs False
This game was boring as Conflict was always ahead, Gengar offense in to Cune Stall never seems to end well for stall. What you always want in gsc specially when stalling is to be ahead in the spike-war and if not ahead then both players having spikes up, this way youll be able to steal some momentum from your opponent with the right plays, False spent the whole game on a defensive loop and thats how you lose with stall
