Hello everyone!
This post is certainly belated, but I am excited to present you my vision as the leader of PP and my plans for 2024. Before I do this, however, let me lay out some thoughts on the recent past of our community.
In the past few years, we have been able to consistently offer tournaments for Gens 1-6, but the interest for those tournaments dwindled towards the end of Callous' tenure. I believe there were several reasons for that: there wasn't a money prize after 2020, the competition for players' interest increased (there are a lot more tours to play nowadays) and the structure of our circuit probably had some flaws as well. Also, I think that the fact that there wasn't much activity on the forums contributed to the slow decline of interest towards Pokemon Perfect. Not to be misunderstood, this isn't criticism towards Callous as much as it is self-reflection (I was part of his staff for the entirety of his tenure after all) and an effort to analyze our mistakes and see where we can improve.
My vision for Pokemon Perfect is to create an active community for Gens 1-4, with competitive tournaments of various formats (single elimination, swiss etc.). So, my plans for 2024 include:
- A restructure of the forums that includes the restoration of old forums from the archive (this is already underway) and an effort to use the forums more actively.
- At least 6 single elimination tournaments for Gens 1-4 (tournaments for Gens 5 and 6 will still be held, but my priority for now are Gens 1-4). I would like to have your feedback on a possible return of the RBY Seasons instead of the Opens we have held for the past four years.
- More format variety with the return of the Cups for all of Gens 1-4.
- The return of PPL, possibly with a revised format and certainly with Bo3 matches for every tier.
However, for all those plans to materialize, an active staff team will be of the utmost importance. So, if you have enjoyed our tournaments in the past and would like to contribute yourself, please let me know as soon as possible. That is all from me for now; stay tuned because our tournament schedule will be announced by the end of January!
